New trails near home

There's been this trail I've been wanting to do which someone told me about.  It's in Manti and it goes from outside of town to the big M up the mountain.

There was a lot of effort put into the trail and I don't know who did it.  I was very impressed though.

The top with the Manti City view.

The M.

Map.  It climbs up 1,000 feet of elevation gain in like 3 miles. And it has lot's of switchbacks.

Some parts especially at the beginning of the trail was steep but I made it up in the granny gear.

I was pretty much in the granny gear the whole way up and it was still fun and worth the climb.  This is at the ridge of the mountain with Manti Canyon in it's view.

The downhill is very fun and a good reward after the climb.

Some bridges.  A lot of work!

I will do it again...probably many times.  I got to get in better shape for this steep stuff anyway.  I need to stop climbing on the easy stuff.

Yesterday, I checked out the new nonmotorized trail in Jimmy's Fork at Ephraim Canyon.

The first part of the old Jimmy's Fork has been dug up for road and the other half is turned in nonmotorized.  I drove to it on the new road and started walking with the dogs on the nonmotorized part.

The USFS put some work into it and they said that they want to use it for horses and foot for post hole reasons.  But the trail looked good enough to me for bikes.

It is only 2 miles long and I'll try it on a bike sometime.

The dogs walking along the trail.

Then I hiked up this canyon which I didn't plan to do but I did it anyway because I guess I am so crazy.  I didn't have enough water either.  I made it up to the Skyline and I walked along the game trail at top.

Game trail.

Then hiked down Jimmy's Fork Creek.  It was a long 7 mile hike but we made it.  We were so tired.

My name I carved back in 2000.  I used to ride my bike down Jimmy's Fork Creek back in the day.  Fun times.

Map I did.
