Month of September

I bought another bike.  A gravel grinder bike.  It's a road bike with bigger tires and has the road feel to it.  I can ride on combination of paved roads and dirt roads.

It has 42mm tires and I made them tubeless.  It's great and I can go at road bike speed on both pavement and dirt.  It gets a little sketchy on loose gravel and I'd rather have my mountain bike on those sections.  So there are still some pros and cons on this bike but I like it.  I did ride it a lot lately.  It's a Cannondale Slate.  I like the drivetrain though, 44 tooth in the front and 11-42 in the back.

I rode my mountain bike on the new Jimmy's Fork trail in Ephraim Canyon.  I like it and it's a fun trail.  There was no one else there and that's what is so good about it.  The only downside is that it's only 2 miles long.  So I did it 4 times on this ride.

Very pretty and lot's of trees.

The other end.

The Forest Service did some work on some parts to make the trail more rideable.  They did a good job.

It was a nice morning and I'll probably ride it more next year.  I don't know if I want to ride it this fall with all of the hunters up there but I will for sure next summer.

My sister and her husband canoeing on a weekend at Cleveland Reservoir.  But this was in August.

Duke and I went on a hike up from Willow Creek up to South Fork Creek.

One weekend I went on a road bike ride up little bit of Nebo Loop Road and up to the Bear Canyon campground twice.  All because it rained a lot the day before, too muddy for mountain biking.

Then on another weekend, I went up to my sister's house and I did a bike ride on Antelope Island.  It was a crappy weekend weather wise but I managed to ride in between rainstorms and windstorms.  It was fun.  I rode on mountain bike trails I've never ridden before, because of exploring.

Bison or buffalo on Antelope Island

On the day after, I rode in the rain on the bike path near my sister's house after church.

I ran into this funny stare-a-cow during one of my evening gravel road rides.  I've been having a lot of good gravel road rides on the Slate lately.  There are so many gravel roads near Ephraim and that is why I got the bike.
