Corner Canyon Ride

When my mom went to drop off grandkids in Lehi, I came with her too.  I asked her if she wouldn't mind if I would take my bike and do a 2 hour ride afterwards.  She was glad to because she doesn't mind at all to sit in the car at the trailhead and just read and relax.  Luckily we found a parking space under a tree where there was shade.

Corner Canyon is near Draper, almost a few miles from Lehi, just near Point of the Mountain.  I've ridden on this trail system twice before but they were all I Cup races.  So, this was the first time I've ridden there just for a ride, not for racing, so I went where ever I wanted to go.

I started from Potato Trailhead and went eastbound on Ann's Trail and went down on the Rush Downhill flow trail.  I loved it.  After that, I went on a little bit of Canyon Hollow and Clark's then went westbound on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail a little bit.  Climbed up on Potato Hill Trail, passed the trailhead again and went on the west of Ann's Trail westbound and down towards BST and went eastbound up to Red Potato Trail and climbed back up to the trailhead.

This Corner Canyon trail system is better than I thought.  I wouldn't be surprised if I ride up there again sometime soon.  It's great and not far from home(about 1.75 hours).  There are many different routes and trails to do and I think I know what to do next.  Most of all these trails are in the trees and is very shady.  The trails are super used up, and I was surprised there wasn't that many people on the trails when I went out there because I hear stories that this area can get crowded.  It's been fun!

Crossing Off the Summer Bucket List

I am trying to do a number of things before summer ends.  One of them was going to Eagle Point again to bike.  I did go there about a month ago or so and I planned to go again because it's great there.  So I went yesterday.

This time the trails are packed down more so that means more people have been riding it.  That's a good sign, right?  I did the same ride I usually do there, go up on Eagle's Egress, do a couple laps of the Monarch Mountain Loop, and go back down Eagle's Egress.  I wanted to go up and down Eagle's Egress again after the ride, but I was really worn out.

I probably won't go again until next year.  I did make segments on Strava for this ride and a few names of other riders popped out so I am still not King of the Mountain. Oh well, at least I am second place on one of them, but it will get filled up in no time.   There really needed to be some segments there in the Eagle Point mountain bike trails.

The other thing I have crossed out on my list this summer was hiking in Maple Canyon.  Maple Canyon is 25 minutes from where I live and I have always loved Maple Canyon.  Last year I hiked up to the viewpoint above Maple Canyon on one trail but didn't do the hiking loop, just the out and back.  This time I did more.

I hiked up the trail I never did and it was a lot steeper and challenging.  So after that, I made it up to the viewpoint and hiked down the other side which I hiked up last year.

When I got to the fork that goes down the canyon, I decided to take the trail up that goes up to the Sanpitch Mountains skyline.  I decided to just go up a little bit but I just kept going up all the way to the top.

This is the top and I've never been up there before, I was great and was quite a bit of climbing.  The view was great and I even saw the other side of the mountain which was Levan Canyon.

This is what the road looks like up at the top and I've been wondering ever since I was a kid while camping at Maple Canyon with my dad and brothers over the years.  It was a great hike and I would love to do it again.  Here's a Strava recorded hiking workout I did, I was really sore and was wobbling around for like 3 days after, not used to that much hiking!
