Maple Canyon Early Summer 2015

The hikes in Maple Canyon have always been my favorite.  Even though I try to get through the messy rock climber crowds through the bottom of the canyon, the hike was still worth it.

I had a weekend when I just didn't feel like riding my bike at all so I took this opportunity to go for a hike, so I went to my favorite hiking place and it's right here at home.  When Duke and I started walking up Middle Fork Trail after just a little, no more people.  Most people in the canyon don't really do much hiking, they'd rather rock climb.  Since rock climbing is not my style, I was glad to be out hiking on these premiere hiking trails with great scenery.

At the top of Middle Fork Trail, after a grueling climb at about 1,500 feet of elevation gain, I was glad to make it at the top.  Duke was tired and thirsty and I tried to give him some of my water, he didn't drink any, he'd just rather drink out of a stream or river.

We hiked back down and then we hiked back up to the famous view point which added another 500 feet of elevation gain.  These trails were steep but I didn't mind it because they gave me such a good workout.

The view behind me on the way up to the view point was spectacular.

Then after a very steep downhill all the way down the Maple Canyon campground on the Right Fork Trail, there were the people again and we've made it after 4.7 miles and a 2,027 feet total elevation gain.  What a hard and rewarding hike!

Finally!  After we found a stream down by the trailhead, Duke dove right in and took a big old drink of lovely cold stream water....which he loves.  We got back into the truck and drove down to Moroni and I ate a Sanpete Bbq turkey sandwich at the gas station and then we went to the cabinet shop to work for 2 hours.  What great day just for Duke and I!
