The cabinets are done.

I just laquered the cabinets I am building for my cabin today. They are made out of birch, same as mom's cabinets except mom's are stained. I just put a clear coat on mine to match the cabin. It has been a very rainy day today(Saturday the 22nd) so I did bike today to Mt. Pleasant and up to the Whispering Pines road(25 min. climb) just outside of Mt. Pleasant this morning about 9:00. Then rode back home and as SOON as got in the car, it started raining like heck and it kept raining for 4 hours. Talk about pure, pure, pure, luck! I hope Tony and everybody didn't get rained on at the Dew Tour today. I was going to the BYU game today with my counselor but there was no ticket for me. I am really glad I didn't go because I would have been miserable in the rain all day. I had more fun working on my cabinet and riding my bike in the morning than go to the BYU game anyway. The Dew Tour would have been fun too but not in the rain! Maybe the events in the Energy Solutions Arena, it would have been fun.

Nice cabinets.
The rain held off until the FMX finals were done, then we headed over to the BMX events inside the arena. When we came out at around 4:00 it was sprinkling, we walked around outside and got some more free stuff then went home. I am sure glad we got to see the motorbikes...I guess you guys got the rain this time. Did you catch any of the live coverage on tv? I am watching it now.

No, I was working on the cabinets all day so I didn't get any of it. You should have called me and reminded me. I totally forgot all about it! I forgot it was going to be on tv.

It was on live on nbc in HD and then at 10:00 on USA again. Same thing today, but I bet they will show the BMX and skate stuff today. We found ourselves on tv in the crowd twice, but it's hard to see the kids. I got a few videos on the post now. It's not what I wanted really, but it's all I could get to upload. It's definitely better being there, but it was hard to brave the crowds. They really only show about 1/3 of it on tv. Watch the bmx today, you might see the first ever double front flip attempt!

Actuall, my bad, the first ever was yesterday while we were there. It didn't work out for him. He might try it again today..Shaun White today on the pipe.

there is nothing like a byu game in the rain, especially when they win....better than guys twrilling in the air getting ready to break their neck or getting caught in the mud up some canyon pass...i will continue to stay in touch with court tv and the jeff's decision today

Skybob said...

Whatever. I went to a byu game, in the rain, they won, I wasn't impressed, not because of the rain either. Alot of the guys where a "Leat Brace" so they don't break their neck. I didn't know you liked going to games! When is the last time you went to one?

Skybob said...

Oh, by the way, I have heard of more guys breaking their necks playing football...

Daniel said...

That is the main reason why I never played football. Football is a injury sport and the life span of football players is 55 years. I played basketball but I didn't like the pressure and the teamwork in it. So then, I got into biking. I started racing and trained seriously on my Junior year right after I quit basketball. It was the best move I ever did, I am still riding happily today, it is healthy sport that lasts a lifetime, if you like it. Thank goodness for Grandpa Harold for talking me out of football during middle school!

1971....that, only been 36 years and you think that indicates something...well i have to admit i don.t get too excited about anything anymore

Skybob said...

So, Dad, you went to a game in 1971? Did your life end the year I was born or something? I just would feel bad if I was that much of a financial burden on you...if there really is "nothing like a byu game in the rain"...
Dan, I am glad you like biking, it is a good sport, I am glad you have a passion for it. I don't feel bad for football players though, they make good money..retire at an early age, and probably enjoy life more than alot of people. I am not saying it's what I want necessarily, but it's not a bad way to go.
FMX is not my passion AT ALL, but the guys that compete can flat out RIDE! I like watching them on natural terrain alot better, but you can't really watch that very easily. The guys that I respect the most are not "ramp tramps" They ride dirt, climbs, technical stuff, motocross...and they have a passion for it. They take precautions, but they don't let pain or whatever stand in the way of their passion...I respect that in people, whatever their passion might be, that's all.

i concede that football is more barbaric than motcross and that doing anything in the rain is to be avoided and i am sure daniel's ride just before the rain and the barlow's visit to the dew tour was more valuable for the family than byu"s victory over now who was it that thet beat oh airforcr

Oh, ok. So you watched the game in the rain on tv...I get it now.
Did it rain the whole game?

Cool Cabinets Dan! I can't wait to see them in November! You are really talented!

Daniel you are so lucky you escaped the rain. I agree with you I think it would be terrible to be caught riding your bike in the rain. I guess you would be cool but it would be hard to see with the rain in your eyes! Rob and I got caught in the rain walking on the beach this summer. We ended up walking about 45 minutes back to our hotel! By the time we got back we were soaked!!!!

Daniel said...

Yes, dad and I just installed them in the cabin today. Yes, no crapin', DAD! Dad actually did help me on some construction today, isn't that abnormal?

Having an open top buggy getting caught in the rain is pretty normal. I guess if you plan for it, it's not that bad though. Moab in the rain is one of the most amazing sights! Talk about waterfalls!! We have been covered in mud head to toe on more than one occassion in the mountains as well. One time we went with a group, in the rain, and we got to this mud area and just spun mud on each other like crazy! We kind of "lost" I guess because the other guys had tops on thier jeeps like a bunch of weenies! I sprayed one guy right in his window right before he closed it though! They never invited us to go with them again, don't quite know why though. I've been snowed on before on the highway, now that is definitely something to avoid! Oh and being sprayed by a passing diesel in the rain is not too fun either, but all that other stuff was a blast, something I won't forget. I bet you won't forget walking in the rain on the beach either.
I can't wait to see the cabin, it looks like you are diong a great job!

Daniel said...

No kidding, I really wish we have an Arby's in Ephraim someday. I am going have to go out and protest on the streets and make a sign that said, "Arby's or bust!"

Putz said...

ya in russia roast beast like that costs over $10 but here you get it on a roll for a little over a dollar ...i don't know how they can make any money

Putz said...

oh you also get as much horseradish that you want ever though it swamps the sandwich, no i really don't think they make any money, you had better buy as much as you can before they go broke

Skybob said...

They just raised their prices last week from $5.95 for 5 to $6.95 for 5, I am not giong back for that so I guess they might go broke..better them than me.
