2008 Barlow Family Reunion! July 11-13

Well, here goes.....it might actually happen! On July 11, 2008, you better get all your camping gear packed and plan on taking that day off (11th) so you can come down earlier. We are heading up the mountains and camp at the high, high, Skyline Drive. Tony is going to bring his trailer for us to watch movies, play video games in, and for mom and Becky to be "pampered" in. There will be a campfire with a continious fire and everybody bring your own meals. It should be fun. Mike, bring your bike so I can have somebody to ride with, we can do some downhill riding down the Pioneer Trail, then do a climb from Major's Flat to Willow Creek and go down the Maple Syrup and Flume trails. Then hopefully somebody would take us back to camp from the bottom. Tony and family can ride dirt bikes and buggies. Then everybody else can just read a book....wait a minute, go hiking! Hiking around the mountains should be fun and don't get lost! Skyline is such a perfect place to collect flowers so there are plenty of things to do. Like fishing, is one thing we can also do. Talk about outdoor Barlow Family Reunion fun!

I really hesitate to say anything here because I know how "nobody likes our style of camping", but we can bring stuff to make and fly paper rockets, some estes rockets(if they are legal), horseshoes, badminton, we would be glad to let people drive the buggy around..., but we don't really care either what people do or where we go so these are just suggestions(for those that may think this whole trip is our idea) Skyline would not be our fist choice, but we definitely think it's a place that we could all get together and have some fun without breaking the bank, so if any of our ideas make this trip to much "our style" let us know now so we don't make the trip miserable for everyone.

PS, we will also have a stove inside the trailer and a camp chef stove outdoors with a bbq grill for cooking. We have a toilet we will bring with a shelter for that stuff. Mom and Beck can sleep in the trailer. If people need want to take a 1 gallon quick shower in our trailer we should have enough water for some to do that. We can watch movies in the evening in the trailer. etc. Again these are just ideas in case it makes life easier for anyone, but whatever eh.

eh.

Does anyone else have any input?
Mom?... Becky?... Mike?... Laura?...

Skybob said...

Anyone?

Skybob said...

Bueller?

Skybob said...

We won't be taking our dogs. What other dog concerns do you have putz?

Shell said...

I think it sounds fun. It is just fun to get together where we can just relax and enjoy each other and the kids just love being out side.

Daniel said...

I am keeping my dogs in the kennel. I think Jeri will be there, Charlie(Speedy), and Sandy might be too. So, it will be fun.

Skybob said...

I'm just not sure if Mike, Laura, Becky, and Mom really want to do this. I think we can assume they don't if they don't comment or don't feel like they want to contribute any ideas as to what we can do while we are there....

Skybob said...

Sorry, I shouldn't assume anything.

Daniel said...

No, it's ok. I don't think they have any interest in it at all and I really agree with you that they might not want to go. I think they more forward to this little >motel< Park City trip in June more. I think we should just call off the whole thing off if no one is going to participate in this.

Daniel said...

Oh yeah, just in case, we need to invite you to the Park City Trip on June 14 this summer. Just to make sure, we haven't really invited MIke and Laura yet but we did leave a message on their answering machine and they haven't answered back. So, I don't know.

Skybob said...

Yea, I agree with you Daniel.
What are you doing in Park City?

Daniel said...

Mountain bike of course! There's a shitload of mountain bike trails all over the place. No motor bikes or buggies allowed. You can probably swim with the kids at the motel. You would be miserable though.

Skybob said...

wow as fun as that sounds, no thanks.
So, maybe just bag skyline and you guys can do park city? Then we can save our gas money for Moab or Caineville.

Daniel said...

I thought you want to go to Skyline. Do you?

Skybob said...

Well, we thought we did. We have always been kind of impartial to skyline, but people don't seem to want to go, so the answer would be no, we don't want to go.
I am really sorry, we really wanted this to work out.

Ok I have to say something. Tony and Daniel have been trying to please everyone and make a family reunion that would be fun and afordable where we could all spend some time together (not just go do our own thing). They ask for input and David does give his but no one else will even take ten minutes to think about what they want to do or are willing to do. Tony has tried to get people to agree that we should do something once a year where we all get together and do something. We want to switch who is in charge so we can all have a say in what we do at least one year. It will only work if there is an agreement that we are going to all participate and do what is planned as long as it isn't more then 3 days or $300 per family. (or whatever limit we agree on) There does have to be some input as to when it is held (so everyone can go) and if people are going to come and if they can bring anything that would make it better. I am sorry if this offends anyone I love all of you but I am sick of Tony and Dan putting in all this effort trying to make something fun for everyone and trying to get everyone's input and having more then half the family just ignore the emails and posts and phone calls. How is it so hard to think about something and decide if you are going to do it and put it on your calandar and say nothing will stop us from going. It seems as though some of you will go as long as nothing better comes along. And the others of you are just hopping it wont work out. If you really don't want to do it tell them. If there is something that would make it easier or better SAY it. It is just very rude to ignore the requests for comments. I get the impression that you don't want to agree just so if we do go and you don't have a great time you feel like you can complain without anyone saying "you agreed". We need to all agree to do it or just forget it. Sorry about complaining I just don't understand how it is so hard to say what you are feeling or commit to doing something.

Amen, Shelly. Amen.

Mike and Laura are coming down here for the weekend for a wedding so I will ask them if they want to do it or not to do it. I know dad wants to do it, mom just told me she would but I don't know about Mike, Laura, and Becky. They are all going to be down here and we'll talk about it.

Daniel said...

They said they want to go to Skyline so it's still on. Laura, why didn't you just say so? It makes everything confusing when there is no communication.

Putz said...

I haven't left a comment because I really don't do computer stuff. David told me that I really must comment so I am doing so now. I really do want to go to Skyline. I think it will be fun. Becky and I are happy to sleep in a tent. No problem. I think we will all have a good time. I don't think we will take Sandy. So that is one less dog. We will all have fun! love ya all mom

Skybob said...

Sorry, I thought this would be a good way to work out the details. I guess we will just plan on bringing the paper rocket stuff, then people can participate or not. Is everyone planning on two nights?

Putz said...

i'm thiking two nights, and even though karma won't admit it and becky says nothing at all, i am sure they would rather have your rig rather than a tent...a bear can't rip through your rig....i don't really know all the reason we get no dialouge on this trip, probably because blog is just a foreing idea to most people except those really hooked on blogs, i got one couple in new mexico that really are interesting living in gas exploration country...any way the trip is on dan's shoulders and i'll try to keep him focus, i'll look around for a nice rocket myself to add to the confusion

Skybob said...

Why would mom say they will sleep in a tent when we offered the trailer unless they don't want to sleep in the trailer?

Putz said...

to ne nice???I JUST DON'T KNOW

Skybob said...

Ok, but we really don't care, so....??? Ya'll really don't have to play games with me, I usually say exactly how I feel. I prefer it that way in return as well.

Putz said...

mom's school is ending right now, maybe she will put more thought in the tripp....ditto on becky

Skybob said...

Not quite sure what to do about speedy. If he is going to bark all night, he will need to sleep outside. We have and extra double bed up front that will go unused if Becky and Mom are not in it. I can't POSSIBLY guess where they would rather sleep, so those are the options. They would have to climb a little rickety ladder to get into the small double bed and sleep inside our redneck trailer..and uh, keep the dog quiet. So whatever they want to do would be just fine with us..I'm not lying.

Skybob said...

Talked to mom, she said they would rather sleep in a tent.
She is taking kites and she and Becky are planning a treasure hunt for the kids. We are going to try the paper rockets, but our little air compressors are weak, so we will see how it goes...we will have a better air system on our trailer someday which would make it much better. We will also bring a few outdoor games such as balls, badminton, horseshoes, etc.
Mom said the porta potty would be nice, so we will bring it. It will be a vaulted toilet with a shelter so we can bury the waste when we leave.
We are planning on heading up the canyon Thursday evening. As far as our understanding, we are camping up top.. somewhere, so I guess people will just have to find us eh???
It will actaully cost a bit more for us to tow the trailer, but we think it will pay off for us in conveniences etc. We hope people will feel free to share in these conveniences if they would like(tv/playstation etc., awning, a/c, gas stoves..?) Just keep in mind that water/fuel etc. is very limited so use with great care. As far as we understand, meals are on our own, correct? We are planning accordingly.
We will have dirt bikes and buggies, but no bronco. People can feel free to use the machines they feel fairly confident they can operate without damaging themselves or the machines. If anyone plans on using them beyond a few rides around camp, help with gas would be appreciated:)
We are getting excited about the trip! If anyone else has plans/problems that we all might need to know about, let us know. We think the less unforseen problems, the better. Let's try to make this as enjoyable as possible for everyone. :) (:
