Snowbird Skiing

There were photographers all over the mountain and one of them took pictures of me going down a mogal ski run and I went to Snowbird Center to buy me a picture and it came in the mail 3 days later. So, I got a picture of me racing and now I got a picture of me skiing. Pretty nice.

Another great day of skiing and ibrofen at the end of the day today! Every time I go skiing, I get this big headache and sore legs at the end of the day, but it's worth it. I wanted to have a chance to go to Snowbird skiing, not bike racing. When I went there, I kept thinking about the most gruelsome, hardest, big time suffering best race I ever did. The Snowbird Widowmaker Hillclimb in the summer of 2000. Actually, I have been thinking about this race every day since September 2000. It was just the steepest granny gearing hill climb ever from the base to the top of the tram. I finished second in my age group(19-29) and I finished 5 minutes behind the pro. I did it in one hour and 3 minutes and it was the best I ever did in a race. I remember going maxinum heart rate all the way up and didn't need to train all week for the Deer Valley race the week after that and got 1st on that one(it was easy). After the snowbird race, I lost interest in all the other races but that's not why I stopped racing, I stopped racing because of injuries on both of my knees because I didn't lift weights for my legs with my bike training when I got home from my mission so I just tore them up from lifting up things. Then I got sick, lost a lot of weight, then gained too much weight in the last two years, so I am not race compatible anymore. But I ride for fun now, and ski! Skiing at Snowbird was great! I loved it, except for the crowds here. The service was great though. I love Snowbird! Good biking and skiing memories here.

Upcoming trip: Easter Weekend, St. George biking...and uhh...shopping?

This Easter weekend, mom, Becky, and I are planning to go to St. George to spend some time in the warm weather, finally! I am going to take my mountain bike with me and go on the Stucki Springs Trail in the Green Valley area just right outside of St. George while the girls swim and shop. We don't know if we are going to stay down there for one night or two nights, we will decide later. It should be a mountain bike blast! Last year we went to St. George during spring break and I biked on the Gooseberry Mesa and Green Valley trails. Stucki Springs is an additive trail of the Green Valley Trail. Stucki Springs is a total of 21.5 mile loop with some climbing and whole shitload of rollercoaster riding!

Spring in St. George is very nice. Becky likes to swim at the motel and she and mom likes to spend all Saturday to shop while I bike. Good way to spend spring break.

Utah! Folks...

There are three different kind of people in the state of Utah:

Mormons-people that are faithful LDS people that go to church every Sunday.

Jack Mormons-people that say they are mormons but don't live like mormons.

Anti-Mormons-people that say nothing to mormons but shit.

Cabinet Job...

This is the Schiffman's kitchen we did. We got them done 3 weeks ago and just did the countertops and installed them today. It took 2 weeks for the laminate egde to come so that is why we did the countertops late. The cabinets are yellow with a glaze on them and the island is green with a glaze on them. My boss made the 7 and a quarter inch diameter posts for the island. The Schiffman's really like the cabinet project. My boss did all the cutting and I did all the putting together and sanding. He did all the painting. I think they are ugly because I don't like painted cabinets, I like the wood look. Right now we have been doing cabinets for a farm house in Manti and they are brown hickory wood with a clear coat of laquer on them. It looks really pretty but the Schiffman's cabinets looks ugly but that's what they wanted and they really like them. Well, it doesn't really look too bad though anyways.

I am trying to post all my projects and my outdoor adventures in my blog now, so that is my goal this year. Since I got my picture phone now.

Winter Wonderland

This picture is for you Karen. We have this much snow and we still have school. We are definitely having a nice winter wonderland kind of winter this year! I love it! I am sure Logan has a lot more and this is how much there is in Ephraim. It is going to snow again! Tonight after midnight(Saturday) and snow all day Sunday and Monday. The mountains are supposed to get another 1-3 feet and down here possibly 6 more inches. I don't know. Hopefully a lot.

I went snowshoeing again today and it was sure a bright sunny day, I should of wore sunglasses. It was very warm, about 45 degrees and warmer in the mountains(inversion). This picture is the telemark ski/snowshoe trail Cory Gordon and I walk on. He skis on it every Tuesday or Thursday and I hike on every Saturday. He made up a new trail for us to hike on from Taylor's Flat up to the start of the Backbone Trail and up along the steep Backbone Trail which ends up at Virgil Ash's mongolian tent at the top(by the A-frame house on Bald Mountain) so we don't have to hike on the Willow Creek Trail at all because it is usually packed down by snowmobilers.

The Backbone Trail. It is very steep but I am getting better and faster on it every trip I go up there. That brown thing in the middle of the trail is Duke. He loves to play in the snow. Duke and Sadie had soooo much fun today and it is what every dog dreams about everyday. I think I spoil them too much, but hey, they are happy and their attitude is good.

Every week I see more and more snow on Virgil Ash's tent. There's almost 3.5 feet on the ground and that is pretty good for someplace that low(7,224 feet). This trail Cory Gordon made is a perfect trail to go on. It's only in my backyard, good snow, good climb, I can take the dogs, no one there, and beautiful. I start at 6,155 ft and finish the hike at 7,224 ft, so it's a great climb. I think I will hike this trail every Saturday all through February and then get on the bike again in March. Maybe some Saturdays I will go up to Fairview Skyline and snowshoe too. Even in the springtime when there is still snow up there in March and April.
