What I did on the 4th July....
After every 4th of July for the last fifteen years of putting my head under my pillow all day and watch fireworks at home, I decided that if we celebrate the 4th July, we all should have a day off and do whatever we want to do because it is the nation's holiday and it is all about freedom. So I decided to go to Park City and ride freedomly on my mountain bike. When my day started, mom told me to take a shower and I said, "Why would I take a shower right before I am going to get all sweaty and dirty on my bike ride?" Then she said, "Just get in the shower, you are all greasy and oily, I am not sitting in the car with you like that!" That is not a good start to start the day of freedom. But it was the only thing I had to do that day. I wanted to do a long ride so I did the Mid Mountain Trail that stays on 8,000 feet from Park City to The Canyons. The first 45 minutes of the ride up the Spiro Trail from the town to the Mid Mountain Trail climbs 1,500 vertical feet and it is the only part you got to suffer then all the rest of the ride was all level and that was the fun part. While riding on the Mid Mountain Trail, I had a blast! It was long, fun, and a total ass kicking ride! There were a lot of twisty turns, berms, rolling hills and I went 17 miles but you could do more if you wanted to because the trail goes who knows where. So I pedaled on the bike for 2 hours and sat and rested at a total one hour. So the total ride was a good three hours. A nice way to spend the fourth of July. I only saw 10 people on the trail but the city was crowded. Provo was horrible and makes you appreciate Christmas because everybody stays home on that day. But the trail was great and it was all shady because there was so many trees along the trail, Aspens and Douglas Firs. It was really cool. There was some rocky spots and I got a pinched flat from that, so I took out an extra tube and pumped that up and that had a hole in it too! Then I checked for patches, I had two patches but NO GLUE! So, five minutes later some guy passed by and I asked him if he had any glue and he gave me some glue and left. I am thankful for that guy because it would have been a 9 mile walk. Next time I ride, I will make sure I have a decent tube and a decent patch kit. So when I got to the Canyons, I rode down Holly's Trail to the base of The Canyons, then mom and Becky picked me up from there after their day of shopping in outlet stores. We ate at Subway in Heber City and went home. I had a fun 4th of July. What about yours? Leave a comment and tell me about your 4th of July.Monday, July 2, 2007
Blue Lake trip with brothers and sisters....
It was a great time to go on a nice camping trip with Tony and his family and Mike and his family. The best part of the trip was riding Shelly's dune buggy going all over the place on those two fourwheeler trails that goes from Blue Lake to Duck Fork Res. The hills were steep and was weavy. I even had a raging waters moment which I was not supposed to have because I was going too fast across the stream. I am glad I didn't get the motor ruined, lucky, I guess. Tony had fun on his motor bike and I am glad he is riding again. I had a lot fun spending time with my nephews and my niece. I enjoyed sitting by Hannah by the lake while Tony and Shelly were out on the boat fishing. She is fun to be with. I enjoyed being with Brayden, Joshua, and Owen and watching them fish. Even though they didn't catch anything, they looked like they still had fun. We were there for 3 days and that was a long camping trip and that was made it fun. I had a lot fun and Tony thanks for taking me up there and having a fun time for me. I am glad we went. Mike and Laura, thanks for coming too, we enjoyed your company and the battle of the Black Pearl and Flying Dutchman was fun(Black Pearl finally won).

A closer view of the map...
Just click on this map and it will zoom in. So you can see it better. I like to go up the Spiro Trail and continue climbing up the Powerline Trail up to Shadow Lake. Then after a rest at Shadow Lake, I keep on climbing on Jupiter Road until I get to the top and go down the Apex Trail. After the Apex Trail, I like to go up on Thaynes Road and go to the other side of the mountain and then go down John's Trail and Sweeny Switchbacks. That is my favorite ride of the Park City area. It is very scenic especially at the lake, and a very good workout and a nice downhill reward afterwards. It takes me usually 2 hours. It is the greatest ride of all. You can see the Midmountain Trail on the map and you can see that it keeps going at the right side of the map which continues on to The Canyons Resort. I will do this trail on July 4th this year.Wednesday, June 20, 2007

I went to Sundance today to bike and it was great! Sundance is famous for turns and burms. They have one downhill trail called "The Bobsled" and it is like going down a bobsled. It is awesome. I did four laps today and I rode for 2 hours. It was intense and steep on the Boneyard Epress climb and had a lot of switchbacks. I went up that twice and up Archies Loop twice. I went down the Bobsled Trail three times and down the Boneyard Express once which was harder. It was really great. Sundance is a lot smaller than Park City but really fun. It has 25 miles worth of singletrack trails and I like Park City and Sundance about the same. Archies loop is a less steeper climb but it is very scenic, you can look down the canyon southward and see Vivian Park Canyon in Provo Canyon. You can see Timpinogus Mountain northward. Mom and Becky came to Provo with me to get Sandy groomed and I had to pick up my fixed my bike after the bike shop put new seals on the fork. So I figured mom would take me to Sundance about 9 miles away from Provo and drop me off there and they would go back down and go eat lunch or shop or something and then pick me up 2- 3 hours later. I thought it would be a good idea and mom said that she didn't mind doing that. So, it is not my first time in Sundance but is still fun everytime.
